Nina.com exists because, after a lifetime in front of cameras, microphones, lecture halls, and very opinionated strangers, I finally wanted a place where I could speak in my own voice without a producer, a network, an algorithm, or a scandal deciding who I am that day.
For decades people have recognized my face before they recognized my work. They assumed they already understood me. But the real through-line of my life has never been shock value. It has been conversation. I've spent forty years talking to adults who were never given permission to ask questions about intimacy, relationships, communication, or their own feelings. I've answered letters, taught classes, spoken at universities, and listened to people who just needed someone calm enough to say, "You're not broken. You're human."
Before any of this, I was a nurse. Caregiving came first. The camera came later. And what stayed constant was the same instinct: reduce fear, replace shame with knowledge, and help people make choices they can live with.
Over the years I watched other people profit from my name, speak for me, imitate me, censor me, and sometimes try to erase me. So I decided to do something very simple and very radical.
I opened my own door.
This site is where I get to be a whole person. I can teach, laugh, answer questions, host conversations, and connect directly with the people who actually want to be here. No intermediaries. No pretending to be tidier, quieter, or easier to categorize than I am.
